Facilities

Fenwick Theatre houses the major productions of the Department, dance concerts, and other theatrical events and has a seating capacity of 225. In the summer of 1996 a new 134 dimmer Strand CD80 Supervisor Modular Dimmer System was installed. Over the next 5 years, the department replaced its entire 175 unit theatrical lighting inventory with new Altman fixtures.

In January of 2002, the Sound System was ugraded with new EAW speakers and QSC amplifiers. The system is designed for recording and playback of digital (CD) theatrical sound effects and is equipped for 16 channel wireless voice reinforcement.

In January of 2005, the lighting control console in Fenwick Theatre was upgraded to an ETC Express™ 48/96.

At the same time, The Pit was ugraded to a 72 dimmer Strand CD80 Supervisor Modular Dimmer System with a GSX™ lighting control console.

A range of studio productions (directed by both faculty and students), workshops, and classes take place in the Studio (O'Kane 481), The Pit (O'Kane 37), and the Dance Studio (O'Kane 28).

In September of 2006, a new sprung dance floor, the very latest in dance floor technology, was installed in the Dance Studio. Developed by Wooden Kiwi Productions LLC of Somerville, MA, the KIWI Floor™ system has more give and spring to it, providing dancers with a safer surface that will ease wear and tear on a dancer's body. The subfloor is covered by a gray Harlequin Tempo vinyl dance floor covering.

Work on any department production is open to all Holy Cross students, faculty, and staff.
