Theatre

An integrated, preprofessional training program in a liberal arts environment is available through the department of theatre, a fully accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Theatre.

Students interpret dramatic texts on many levels through acting classes, directing and design courses, dramatic literature, and theatre history courses. In dance courses, students learn dance history as well as technique and composition. There are also film classes and playwriting tutorials. The department offers a minor in Film Studies in conjunction with the Center for Interdisciplinary and Special Studies.

The College often hosts guest artists for workshops on such topics as baroque dance, Suzuki technique, Alexander technique, and puppetry.

Students have numerous chances to practice their crafts in a fully-equipped theatre, dance studio, and more experimental performance spaces. Work on any department production is open to all Holy Cross students, faculty, and staff.
