Lawrence Cahoone received his Ph.D. from Stony Brook University. He is the author of The Dilemma of Modernity: Philosophy, Culture, and Anticulture (SUNY 1988), The Ends of Philosophy: Pragmatism, Foundationalism, and Postmodernism (SUNY 1995, reprinted Blackwell 2002), Civil Society: The Conservative Meaning of Liberal Practices (Blackwell 2002), Cultural Revolutions: Reason versus Culture in Contemporary Philosophy, Politics, and Jihad (Penn State, 2005), The Orders of Nature (SUNY Press, 2013), and editor of From Modernism to Postmodernism: An Anthology (second edition, Blackwell 2003).
