Music

We believe music serves an essential and unique role in the articulation of the human experience. We offer our majors rigorous, sustained musical training,  and we offer all Holy Cross students the opportunity to nurture and develop their own particular love of music.

Our students have the benefit of studying with award-winning composers, performers, musicologists, and audio engineers in mostly small classes where there are countless opportunities to explore courses in music theory, composition, history, jazz, music technology, popular music and world music.

Learning experiences take place both inside and outside of the classroom, and foster dynamic interactions between students and faculty. We believe this synthesis of the curricular and cocurricular aids in the development of well-rounded students and enriches their musical journeys.

For students wishing to more deeply explore specialized interests, our faculty members offer private lessons and small group tutorials. Additionally, the department provides numerous opportunities for students to perform in ensembles covering a wide spectrum of musical styles.

Visits can be arranged through the Music Department Office. Please contact Alice Resker (508-793-2296 or aresker@holycross.edu) for additional information.
