Congratulations to class of 2012 award winners!

Nicholas Bodurian, Patrick Hipple, Stacey Hochkins, Caroline Knuff, Andrew Kraynak and Paul Maloney, the 2012 Economics Department honors students.  Link to papers and photos

Nicholas Bodurian '12, winner of the 2011-2012 John J. Cummings, Jr./BAI Award, given annually to the best paper in finance, for his paper "Bailouts and Bank Risk: The Association between Bank Specific Risk Measurements and TARP Participation."

Colby Carter '12, winner of the Freeman M. Saltus Prize, given annually for the best essay in economics, for his paper "Government Spending: Is Divided Government Effectively Small Government?"

Kelly Garvey '12, winner of the Economics and Accounting Achievement Award, given to the senior student who has contributed most significantly to the department in terms of scholarship, service, and/or enthusiasm.

Kerry O. Wright '12, winner of the Boston Chapter of Financial Executives International "Outstanding Senior Award".

Congratulations!

The Holy Cross team consisting of Jules Biolsi, Lauren McCarthy and Casandra Medeiros had an excellent showing at the Intercollegiate Business Ethics Case Competition.  They presented their case "Coca Cola's Deceptive Marketing Tactics." The team made it to the final round of the case competition and Jules was champion of the 90 second ethics challenge.

Economics Major Applications

Students can apply for the major after they have completed an economics course at Holy Cross. Applications will be solicited in September 2011 and January 2012.  In September, the application period begins on Monday, September 19, and the applications are due on Tuesday, September 27 at noon.  In January, the application period begins on Wednesday, January 25, and the applications are due on Tuesday, January 31 at noon.  All applications are submitted online via the Moodle site. A reminder and instructions for accessing the site will be sent via email at the beginning of the semester. Here is a sample application form (.pdf).

Economics-Accounting Major Applications

Applications will be solicited in October 2011 and Spring 2012.  In October, the applications are due on Friday, October 7 at noon.  All members of the class 2014 and 2015 that are currently enrolled in or have completed ECOA 181 Financial Accounting will be eligible to apply.  All applications are submitted online via the Moodle site. A reminder and instructions for accessing the site will be sent via email at the beginning of the end of September. A sample application form (.pdf) is provided.
