Faculty Housing Assistance
Faculty Transitional Housing Program
The purpose of this program is to help incoming faculty find a temporary place to live while they settle into Holy Cross and to provide them with an opportunity to become familiar with Worcester and the surrounding communities before they make decisions about where they want to live on a more long-term basis.
College-owned property. The College has available for rent a limited number of unfurnished two- and three-bedroom apartments and houses in close proximity to the Holy Cross campus. The lease term for these properties is one year with the possibility of a one-year renewal. Only in rare cases will a request for a third-year lease be considered.
Non College-owned property. As a courtesy to landlords in the Worcester area, we maintain a file of available rental and temporary housing. The property owners are not necessarily affilitated with the College of the Holy Cross. The property descriptions contain only the information provided by the property owner, and the properties have not been inspected by Holy Cross staff. While we strive to keep the listings current, at times a property will have been rented and our office not informed. New faculty are responsible for contacting the property owners directly.

Home Purchase
Faculty Mortgage Subsidy Program. This program provides mortgage assistance to tenured and tenure-track faculty members for the first-time home purchase of a primary residence. The College will provide a 15-year, below market rate 2nd mortgage equal to the faculty member's down payment up to 10% of the purchase price of the residence, at a fixed rate per annum equal to a graduated discount on the current Bank of America 15-year fixed rate with no points. For a residence in the city of Worcester, the rate offered to eligible faculty will be discounted by 3%. For a residence outside of the city of Worcester, the discount will be 2%.
