Catholic Studies

Students planning to minor or major in Catholic Studies design a sequence of courses to develop an understanding of the intellectual tradition and social teaching of Catholicism. The theory behind Catholic Studies is the Jesuit ideal of becoming “active contemplatives” in life. Multidisciplinary study offers an opportunity to engage diverse viewpoints within the Church across a spectrum of contexts and cultures. The program is appropriate for all students who want to enrich their career goals with the sense of purpose and moral formation that come from Catholic learning. Catholic Studies therefore welcomes science and math majors. The program is likewise appropriate for pre-med students, pre-law students, and pre-business students.
